SIMON Redmond, originally from Dublin Ireland, has been living, boxing, and fighting competitively in San Francisco since 1996. Simon fought and won the 1999 Golden Gloves in the Cow Palace here in San Francisco. “He is a champion with a reputation of being a hard charger, totally game, relying heavily on reach and power” (SF Bay Guardian – November, 2001).
In the 2001 Northern California Golden Gloves Tournament, USA Boxing awarded him the John Vidal trophy for the “most exciting bout” out of more than 70 fights. Shortly after, he was asked to fight on the under-card of ESPN’s “Friday Night Fights” in a pro-am card televised nationally from San Francisco.
The following year, Simon was unable to compete in the Golden Gloves due to immigration status issues but later fought the 2002 champion, who had a perfect 7 and 0 record, and defeated him.
“I have had some great sparring sessions with some of the top amateurs and local pros including; Santos Soto, Karim “The Hard hitter “ Mayfield, Henry “The Guv’nor” Molly, James “Dark Angel” Buggs, “Irish” Pat Lawler, Shane Dalton and even got “schooled” for 2 hard rounds with current Middleweight World Champion Andre Ward. I have broken my ribs, broken my nose, burst my eardrums 6 times, spilt blood, been knocked out cold and done the same and worse to others…. and LOVED EVERY MINUTE OF IT!” – Simon Redmond
In 2003, with the desire to train other boxers, he co-founded 3rd St Boxing Gym. After four years of teaching boxing and training fighters from all over San Francisco, Simon, opened Titanium Training Center in 2007 to bring his training and classes to an even wider audience. In January 2010 he broke away from 3rd St Gym and took over sole ownership of Titanium Training Center and renamed and re launched it as Polk St Gym.
In July 2014 he opened HIT FIT SF, which offers Cardio Boxing, and TRX fused with old school fighter conditioning drills. On the success of a great 1st year in the Harrison St location he moved forward and opened a second HIT FIT SF in Nob Hill.
In September 2015 he moved the famed Polk St Boxing Gym into the same space and is now delighted to start firing up what he thinks is going to be “the most bad ass gym” in the city.
Simon lives in the city with his wife and their 2 children.

NIA Fregoso has had a passion for high intensity sports since she was a young girl.
She would play flag football but would end up tackling the boys because she thought flags were for wimps.
After that she found her passion in soccer and played all through college. I was a multi-athlete through college running for the cross country and track team and playing soccer.
Nia’s life has revolved around fitness since she can remember.
Being certified through NAFC two years ago is what she credits as being the best thing that has happened to her.
It has allowed her to learn different techniques in her training by adoring her to take courses on TRX, HIIT, and Zone (heart rate training). TRX is one of her favorite specifications due to its low impact on the spine and having high percentage of core performance.
Today she focuses on training groups of people who she calls friends in achieving their best every time they show up to one of classes.
She lives and breathes helping people seek personal achievement and satisfaction by putting in the hard work. For her, nothing is more inspiring than seeing her students become the best they can be.

LEO Larsen is a San Francisco Bay Area native and started his martial arts journey in his late teens. At the age of 18, Leo was granted access to a private Gung Fu Club and began serious training in Chinese martial arts. This led him to train in other combat arts such as, American Style Kickboxing, Submission Grappling (Jiu Jitsu) and MMA. Back in 2006, Leo began studying grappling under World Champion MMA fighter, Jake Shields and MMA fighter/grappling coach, Mike Fazzino. During that time there were lots of world class MMA fighters that he had the privilege to train with. This was a serious atmosphere to train in and has molded Leo into a solid warrior.
In recent years, Leo studied under a boxing coach from the Catskill Boxing Gym in upstate New York (world famous for producing none other than Mike Tyson). He’s had rare training in Cus D’ Amato’s unique boxing style called, “Peek-A-Boo Boxing”. A very rare unique and aggressive style of boxing that takes bobbing and weaving to another level. Cus D’ Amato’s motto was, to make your opponent miss and throw with bad intentions.
In each combative art Leo demonstrates excellent skill and shows a high level of knowledge and expertise in the fighting arts. In 2009 the private Gung Fu Club had the honor of bestowing Leo to 1st degree black belt. He currently holds a 2nd degree blackbelt. In over 20 years, only 6 members have made it this far.
With Leo’s extensive fighting background, he’s developed a unique and sophisticated method of teaching and has produced many great students over the years. Some of which have fought competitively and others that choose to keep their training more on a private basis. All in all, Leo Larsen has proven to be a high level instructor!

TROY King, professional fighter, while a latecomer to the sport of boxing, is no stranger to the elements that comprise a phenomenal fighter: mental strength, focus, patience, dedication and discipline. Born and raised in the rougher neighborhoods of Akron, Ohio, Troy was subjected, at a young age, to the realities of growing up on the lower socio-economic side of any town.
“There is no love in Akron. Akron has a crabs in a barrel mentality as a city. If you come out of Akron and make it, it is because you survived not only physically but also mentally. You were mentally tough. You had to be.” – Troy King
In 2007, Troy fell in love with boxing. Wendall Bates, a local boxer asked King to help him with his strength and conditioning training. This sparked King to begin studying the sport of boxing in order to master the technical aspect of the sport. By the end of 2007, King knew boxing was his path.
Troy began training around the clock with local boxers and coaches in order to make up for the time he had lost as a “late comer”. By 2009, training under Omar Dawood, King had already reached 3-0 in his first three amateur fights. Troy continued to train but struggled to get fights and found himself going pro in MMA to keep himself fighting. It wasn’t until 2011, after moving to Oakland, CA, that Troy “Kuerno De Chivo” King Welterweight/ Jr. Middleweight Record: 7–0 (5 K.O.s) decided to focus solely on boxing.
In late 2014, after winning by K.O. in the first round of a fight against Miguel Galan, the boxing community began to take notice of King. Now, with a 7-0 record, 5 of those wins by knockout, King is ready to take his career to the next level and show the national boxing community the same tenacious spirit that helped him survive through his hardships as a child.
Sashah is a Bay Area native, living in San Francisco for the past ten years. She holds a degree in Sociology from San Francisco State University, and finds it extraordinarily useful in fostering connections and community along her fitness journey.
She is a self-purported pizza connoisseur, bedroom DJ, silly cyclist and serious wanderlust at heart. Her passion for fitness has developed slowly yet organically since college and the crowning of nickname “Love Handal”. 6am burpees weren’t always her favorite way to start the morning but she had to find a way to turn pepperoni slices and squats into a symbiotic lifestyle. A firm believer in both discipline and indulgence, she works hard to carb just a little bit harder. Constantly aiming to bridge the gap between delicious and nutritious, Sashah encourages everyone around her to nourish a dynamic relationship with food and fitness.
While she has been avidly active for years, she began first began instructing group fitness classes at UCSF after attaining certification as a Les Mills GRIT instructor in early 2014. The science and tangible results behind HIIT-styled workouts were not only alluring but effective, and from then on it was love at first jump lunge! Her classes currently consist of GRIT, Athletic Conditioning, and most recently, Spinning. Whether at the track, in the studio, or riding dirty on two wheels, you can almost certainly catch Sashah bobbin’ her head to anything from rhythm heavy Kaytranada and Disclosure or gettin’ gangsta with Kendrick and Mase.
Greg is a part of the HIT Fit SF fight team lead by coach Jairo Escobar. He is a certified TRX instructor, NASM certified personal trainer and qualified in bulgarian bag.
He is an All-State Sprinter and All-State Running Back and specializes in Athletic Conditioning and plyometric training, as well as boxing and weight loss and weight gain training. He has been teaching at the Mission gym for over 8 months and looks forward teaching a time slot at Nob Hill.
Jairo was first introduced to the sport of boxing by one of my best friends at a very young age, and he immediately fell in love with it. He started off just training recreationally and slowly came to realize he was actually really good at it. He continued training himself through most of his adolescent years and it wasn’t until he was in his mid twenties that he realized he loved the coaching aspect even more than me being a fighter himself and in turn began to take coaching seriously.
Escobar began by training youth and then some local amateur fighters. Once He started to really build a name for himself, he began training with some of the top amateur fighters in the nation. From there he started to work with and train professional fighters.
Today he has his own stable of amateur and pro fighters, some of which are ranked top in the nation. He also assists in training numerous other pro fighters within the Bay Area, and has also been invited to several training camps for elite pro fighters. Jairo is well recognized by boxing gyms around the country.
“A lot of fighters reach out to me for my mitt work, which is what I’m most known for nowadays. I also have a keen eye for breaking things down and teaching fighters real boxing fundamentals. I met Simon Redmond in early 2015 and was really excited to join the HIT FIT SF team and become the fight team trainer.” – Jairo Escobar
He loves what he does and looks forward to leaving a huge imprint on the sport of boxing in the years to come.
